National Playground Safety Week – News you can use to stay safe!

Each year more than 200,000 children are taken to the emergency room as result of an accident or fall on the playground. Nearly 70 percent of these injuries are the result of falls, rather than equipment-related. In addition, recent studies have indicated that approximately 80 percent of all playgrounds have unsuitable or unsafe surfacing or ground cover and only 9 percent of home playgrounds have the proper surfacing.

At first glance this may sound like a bit of a strange statement, but it is a fact. The more we can recycle old tires into products such as Rubberific Mulch, NuPlay or other products made from 100% recycled rubber, the fewer mosquitoes we will have.

Why? And how rubber mulch can answer this question!

It is a question that we should ask of ourselves more often. The word “why” should most often be followed with the phrase “am I doing this?” Is what I am doing making life easier? More complicated? Am I becoming a better person for doing this? Am I helping others, or supporting a cause as a result of my actions? I am no psychiatrist, but would venture to say that if we took a moment, just a brief one, and asked ourselves “why am I doing this?” we would not do many of the things we do.
